The Berdan Sharpshooters: Company D, 2nd United States Sharpshooters are happy to be of service to local and national non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservations of history, betterment of man-kind and similar worthy goals.
The following organizations are served by reenactors from the Berdan Sharpshooters. We encourage interested people to get involved with these organizations.
Fort Hoskins -
Sheridan House Preservation Project
Fort Hoskins was founded in Oregon (then Oregon Territory) in 1856 by infantry troops assigned to the area. Today, dedicated volunteers seek to preserve the last remaining structure from the orginal fort. This building is the Phil Sheridan house.
Oregon Military Museum of Clackamas, Oregon
The Oregon Military Museum is on the grounds of the Camp Withycombe National Guard training base. Reenactors of the Berdan Sharpshooters volunteer in various aspects at the museum. The Oregon Military Museum features a wide range of American military artifacts, including a tanks, artillery, uniforms, weapons and documents.
Civil War Preservation Trust
The Civil War Preservation Trust is devoted to preserving historic sites and battlefields from the American Civil War and save them from development. In combination between donations and national grants, the CWPT save thousands of acres of Civil War pertinent land annually.
